College Scholarships Available to Paint Branch Seniors

Introduction:

The Paint Branch High School Educational Foundation is pleased to seek applications for our scholarship program. Our vision is to support Paint Branch High School (PBHS); its students, staff and families. With this in mind, we will be funding up to five one-time scholarships for $500 this spring.

Instructions:

These scholarships are open to current seniors, who will be furthering their education in the fall at college, community college, or trade school. Payments will be made directly to the school of their choice.

Two of the most innovative people in our history said the following: “If we did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves [Thomas Edison]” and “I want to put a ding in the universe [Steve Jobs].”

We are asking students to interpret and relate the quotes to their time here at Paint Branch HS and to their educational future in an essay of no more than 500 words.

Essays must be submitted electronically to LPTwigg@verizon.net no later than March 29, 2012 by midnight. The Foundation Board of Directors (BOD) will then select up to ten entries, and those students will be asked to discuss their essay orally with the BOD as the final part of the competition.  The date for the interviews is Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2:30 pm.

The BOD reserves the right to award fewer than five scholarships if insufficient qualified submissions are received.

Please be sure to include the following information in the header of your essay:

Name, phone, address and email address.

If you have any questions, please contact Patti Twigg at LPTwigg@verizon.net .
